Load profiling is used to identify overall energy use in kWh, as well as peak usage on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The load profiling data can offer insights into possible better management of load utilization that can result in significant reductions in energy costs. (The term load profiling can also mean performing an energy study or audit.)
The graph (or profile) on the left can show the behavior of an individual load, or even an entire plant or facility. It tracks energy use, shows the demand power (as measured by the utility) to highlight when peak demand occurs that results in higher utility penalty charges, as well as total consumption. Graphs of watts, current, and power factor over time provide a full assessment. These graphs can be exported to Excel for analyzing energy savings opportunities.
